Void Former

Also known as Expanded Paper Honeycomb often referred to as EPH.

EPH panels can be used in reactive soil areas under slabs and beams in a pier or beam and slab type structure. They provide safe and economical temporary support which eventually deteriorates leaving a void beneath the concrete.

EPH panels are designed to lose their strength in moist conditions thus care must be taken to lay out areas where the concrete will be poured immediately once the EPH is in position. Walkways should be provided for workmen in heavy traffic areas. Point loading must be avoided at all times.

Each EPH panel is supplied wrapped in plastic to help with weather protection but is not weather proof and must be stored in a dry place. Tarpaulin covers are recommended and need to be laid to allow adequate ventilation. Minimum ground clearance during storage is 100mm and supports should be run along the length of the panels.

Panels are a standard size of 2500x800 with the thicknesses varying depending on specification requirements.
